Sri Lanka’s Amana Bank opened its first self-banking center at Slave Island. The bank said it plans to launch several such self-banking centers. These centers will have cash deposit machines and facilitates 24×7 transactions for customers. Mohamed Azmeer, CEO of the bank, said while customer will have 24×7 access to over 4000 ATMs through the LankaPay network for withdrawals, their access to deposits was limited to only standard banking hours at the branches. With the introduction of the self-banking centers, customers now have the convenience of making deposits round the clock. Amana Bank is Sri Lanka’s first and only commercial bank to operate on a non-interest based banking model. It has 28 branches besides 4000+ ATMs and offers internet and mobile banking.
