Standard Chartered Bank appointed Ajay Kanwal as head of the ASEAN & South Asia region including India of teh bank. The bank will also appoint a new chief executive for India operations as incumbent Sunil Kaushal will move to head the Africa and Middle East business. The India CEO will be reporting to Kanwal who will be based out of Singapore. Both Kanwal and Kaushal’s new roles will be effective from 1 October. The other two regions – Greater China and North Asia – will be led by Ben Hung whereas Tracy Clarke will head the Europe and Americas region. The heads of all the four regions will be directly reporting to Bill Winters, the bank’s new group chief executive. The bank has reorganized its existing 8 business regions into 4 in order to improve efficiency.The bank has also announced regrouping its client businesses under three heads – Corporate and Institutional Banking, Retail Banking and Commercial and Private Banking.
