Airtel Payments Bank is now offering UPI. The payments bank has integrated the payments system with its platform, it said in a press statement, thus become the first payments bank to do so. Shashi Arora, MD and CEO of the bank, said the facility would allow all 20 million customers of the bank create their personalized UPI handles on the Airtel app and enable them to make digital payments in both the offline and the online space. Customers will be able to link their bank accounts on BHIM app and make UPI payments via the Airtel Payment Bank, he added. Dilip Asbe, COO of NPCI, said payments banks are capable of facilitating remittances and payments to a large user base specially to underserved area as per RBI’s vision.
