ABN Amro Bank said it is planning to host a hackathon. The hackathon will be held during the second Beyond Banking Days to help build the bank of the future, the bank said. The hackathon will offer participants an opportunity to present their ideas for banking in the future. According to the bank’s chief innovation and technology officer Christian Bornfeld said the bank is looking at what it can do to find solutions, beyond the bank products and services. He felt in order to uncover novel and innovative ideas about complex challenges, the bank needed to listen to clients and society, not be afraid to experiment and be willing to learn from each other. The bank said during the Beyond Banking Days 2017 hackathon, data analysts from the financial sector carried out analyses of a genetic dataset of children suffering from cancer. The 2018 event, the bank said, will be over 3 days and will address relevant developments in the financial sector and beyond.
