The strike call given by the All India Bank Employees Association on 24 June has been deferred. The one-day strike call has been given by AIBEA in support of the various demands of the State Sector Bank Employees Association (SSBEA). SSBEA has various unions of associate banks of State Bank of India as its members and the strike call was to protest against the ‘anti-associate’ banks approach of the SBI management. AIBEA general secretary C.H. Venkatachalam said the union has decided to take up the issue at higher level in the government and in view of this, it has decided to postpone the strike of 24 June. AIBEA has alleged that the five associate banks of the SBI are denying trade union rights in violation of law of the land in associate banks.
