National Payments Corporation of India has announced 2 crucial appointments – Praveena Rai as chief operating officer and Arif Khan as chief digital officer. NPCI said in a statement as COO, Praveena Rai will be in-charge of formulating and deploying the marketing, business development, product management and operations strategy in line with NPCI’s overall strategic objectives of simple, secure and seamless consumer experience to further the cause of rapid digitization of India. She will drive product penetration, reach and visibility of NPCI’s offerings through suitable partnerships. Rai has 20 years of extensive experience in various facets of payments, cards, retail, transaction, wholesale and commercial banking. Prior to joining NPCI, she was leading the cash management portfolio at Kotak Mahindra Bank. She was also was managing payments for Asia at HSBC and was also the head of Sales at the bank.
Arif Khan,Chief digital officer, NPCI
Arif Khan will assume the role of chief digital officer and will be leading strategic planning for digital transformation of the organization. The role is aimed at growing NPCI’s new products portfolio basis customer needs and industry trends. He will be responsible for driving innovation, analytics and technology. He was with payments gateway service provider RazorPay as chief innovation officer and has also worked with HDFC Bank for over 15 years heading strategic initiatives in payments, digital banking and financial inclusion.
