State Bank of India Foundation has given a financial grant of Rs 10 crore to the Central Railway for the project of restoring the heritage building of Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai. The bank is partnering with the railways over a period of time in this project. The two entities entered into a MoU in Mumbai for this purpose. The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) has been assigned the work of identifying the defects in the heritage building. SBI said in a statement it aims to contribute in the development and preservation of world heritage structures in the country and the project would involve conservation and restoration of the heritage structure south and south façade, conservation and restoration of Old Annexe building façade, south façade side open space restoration of ground level, paving, landscape works and restoration of heritage compound wall, museum etc.
