HDFC Bank has introduced a humanoid called Ira for helping its customers at branches. Ira has been developed by Asimov Robotics, a firm based in Kochi. The bank said Ira will become operational in a branch of the bank in Mumbai shortly. The bank also said it is looking to partner with startups having technological solutions for rural operations. The move was announced by the bank’s head of digital banking Nitin Chugh. He, however, did not give details on the tasks the robot would carry out. It will not replace jobs done by humans, he added.
