Deputy governor R. Gandhi will hold charge of the monetary policy department as per the reallocation of portfolios carried out by the new governor Urjit Patel. Gandhi will also have financial market operations department and the department of economic policy and research besides having the responsibility for coordination between all the departments of the RBI. He will have 14 departments under him as against the previous 10 he had been handling. Deputy governor S.S. Mundra has been given charge of the corporate strategy and budget department along with the department of statistics and information management and international department. N.S. Vishwanathan will now look after the central security cell and department of communication. There is a vacancy of a deputy governor and as such when this position is filled up there could be another reallocation of portfolios.
