Barclays may locate European HQ to Dublin

British bank Barclays has chosen Dublin, capital of the Republic of Ireland, as its headquarters post the Brexit, according to news reports. Dublin may act as the bank’s European headquarters so that it would not lose access to the Single Market, regardless of how the government’s negotiations turn out with EU officials. The reports also indicated that Barclays has started search of office space in Dublin and has been in contact with regulators in this regard. Barclays CEO Jes Staley said earlier that operations will likely be shifted out of London as a result of the government’s hard stance on Brexit. He said that Barclays will move some jobs from the capital to either Ireland or Germany, where the bank already has operations.
