K. Balasubramanian, who joined HDFC Bank as group head for corporate banking, is leaving the bank to return to Citi Group in just about a year’s time. He is expected to hold a senior position in Citi as head of the corporate banking for South Asia. Balasubramanian had spent nearly 2 decades in Citi and was MD for its Indian corporate banking operations before he joined HDFC Bank. It is expected that he will now replace Rahul Shukla as the head of Citi’s corporate banking for South Asia and will be based in Mumbai. Shukla will be taking a larger role at Citi. Balasubramanian was earlier reporting to Kaizad Bharucha, ED at HDFC Bank, who leads the wholesale banking business in the bank.
