There are no plans at the moment to introduce new denomination currencies, the Reserve Bank of India deputy governor N.S. Vishwanathan has said. Giving a talk on ‘Credit Culture and the Financial System’, he said at present, RBI has no idea to introduce currencies of new denominations. The central banking institution wants to encourage cashless transactions, which are helpful to the people, he added. Union minister of state for finance Arjun Ram Meghwal had also informed the Parliament that the government is not planning to print Rs 5000 and Rs 10000 currency notes.
