New governor for Sri Lanka central bank

Arjuna Mahendran, a former private banker, has been appointed governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. This is part of the shake-up in economic policy by the new President Maithripala Sirisena. Mahendran, earlier managing director at HSBC’s private banking division, replaces Ajith Cabraal, who resigned following the defeat of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
