The Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India held their 600th meeting in New Delhi on Saturday, presided over by Governor Shaktikanta Das. Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the gathering. During her address, she emphasized the key priorities outlined in the 2023-24 Union Budget and shared her expectations from the financial sector. Complimenting the Finance Minister on the Budget, the Board members made a few suggestions for consideration of the government.
Sitharaman was accompanied by Dr Bhagwat Karad, Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, Minister of State for Finance, Dr TV Somanathan, Finance Secretary, Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Secretary, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management, Sanjay Malhotra, Secretary, Department of Revenue and Dr V Anantha Nageswaran, Chief Economic Advisor.
The Board also reviewed the global and domestic economic situation and associated challenges. Deputy Governors Mahesh Kumar Jain, Dr Michael Debabrata Patra, M Rajeshwar Rao, T Rabi Sankar and other Directors of the Central Board attended the meeting.
