Kenya’s Dubai Bank has launched a mobile platform called M-Sasa with the aim of growing its transaction income The M-Sasa service will enable clients to enquire balance status, request for mini statements, deposit and withdraw cash, transfer funds in-house to any account, access loan status, send account activity SMS, pay third parties including utility bills and carry out M-Pesa transactions. Kenya’s mobile phone money market is among the top globally going by volumes and value of transactions made daily. Banks have also exploited the growing use of mobile phones for money transactions to boost increase convenience and cut their operation costs. As at October, Kenya’s mobile phone subscribers had reached 32.2 million according to data from the Communications Authority of Kenya. The bank has launched the service in partnership with Rapid Communications.
