Arun Kaul, CMD, UCO Bank, feels data mining should be integrated with audit process in banks for better NPA management. He said at a seminar organized by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India that the large database of banks should be analysed using analytics and this should be integrated with bank audit to improve the quality of audit and for better management of NPAs. He pointed out that the trend in banking sector is the rising levels of stressed assets and this needs very careful study. There is a need for research on why the NPAs in the banking system are rising, in addition to a segmented and focused study, Kaul said.
