DBS Bank-India is proposing to make its Digibank compatible for desktop banking too. The bank’s mobile-only banking service is the first such service in India. It launched the service a year ago by offering ‘zero balance’ account that operates without paper or signatures. Since then, the Digibank account has seen over a million users. Surojit Shome, CEO of DBS-India, said in January the bank added mVisa QR code and has brought in BhartQR scan and pay. The bank is also in the process of introducing UPI which can enable customers to access all their bank accounts through our app, he added. He said that the bank plans to add desktop access to the Digibank account. This is because mobile is turning out to be the primary channel for accessing accounts and the bank does not want to give an impression that this is an omni-channel account, said Shome. However, the bank found that there was a section of users who wanted a desktop option.
