The feature is expected to come in handy for those who never shop online and want to reduce the fraud risk. The facility can also be used as a form of self-restraint by shoppers who want to restrict their online spending. The cardholders can continue to use the card for offline purchases. Besides, they can also reduce their ATM withdrawal limit and also put a total restraint on withdrawals. The changes can be reversed almost instantly via the app. The new technology will also help customers who have mislaid their card but are sure it is somewhere safe. A Barclays spokesman said this is about giving people greater control. If someone never makes purchases online or by phone they may not want the risk of leaving this option turned on. And if they never withdraw £300 they may not want to leave the limit this high. Any restrictions can be quickly reversed using the mobile banking app.
