Bank unions are bracing for a four-day strike from 25 February. The unions are unhappy with the lack of progress in talks with the Indian Banks Association over wage revision and have said the deferred strike program would be revived. The two sides could not make any progress during their discusions in Mumbai and the United Forum of Bank Unions said it has decided to organize the four-day strike followed by an indefinite strike from 16 March. The general secretary of the All India Bank Employees’ Association C.H. Venkatachalam said the strike is meant to draw the attention of top government officials.
