The Reserve Bank of India has approved the re-appointment of Aditya Puri as MD and CEO of HDFC bank for another 2 years. The bank said in a regulatory filing that the RBI in a letter has accorded its approval for the re-appointment of Puri, as MD & CEO of the bank from 1 November 2018 to 26 October 2020 (ie, till the date of his attaining the age of 70 years). The shareholders of the bank have already approved his appointment in 2015 for 5 years subject to the RBI’s approval. Puri has been with HDFC Bank since 1994, making him the longest-serving head of any private bank in the country. During his tenure, he led the bank through 2 major mergers in the Indian banking industry – Times Bank and Centurion Bank of Punjab.
