A.P. Hota has retired as MD and CEO of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). NPCI said its COO Dilip Asbe will be CEO in-charge till a new MD and CEO is appointed. Hota became the first MD and CEO of NPCI in August 2010. Asbe has been with NPCI since its inception and has played a pivotal role in designing, building, operationalizing and managing large scale payment processing platforms like Unified Payments Interface, Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM), Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), India’s home-grown card network – RuPay and several other initiatives.
