News reports said Justice B.N. Srikrishna, former Supreme Court judge, would hold an inquiry into the happenings at ICICI Bank, including the charges of conflict of interest on the part of MD and CEO of the bank, Chanda Kochhar. The bank’s board had earlier said it is instituting an inquiry into all the aspects of the accusations. Justice Srikrishna will investigate into all the aspect of the allegations, including whether Kochhar had violated the code of conduct and was instrumental in certain bank transactions which allegedly helped her spouse in his business. Justice Srikrishna, 77, was chairman of the Financial Sector Legislative Reforms Commission (FSLRC) and is currently heading a committee of experts deliberating on a data protection framework for the country.
