Emirates NBD will be the latest to introduce Pepper, the robot that works on artificial intelligence. The bank will deploy these robots in its branches soon and will feature in its marketing and promotional events in the UAE, interacting with customers to understand visitation needs and present products and services alternatives in an engaging way, assisted by the bank’s staff. It will not, however, perform any core banking functions. According to Vikram Krishna, head of Group Marketing and Customer Experience at the bank, Pepper is a truly remarkable innovation and it brings in a fun, interactive element to banking experience. Developed by Softbank Robotics, Pepper is being touted as the first humanoid robot capable of recognizing the principal human emotions and adapting his behavior to the mood of his interlocutor.
