In the wake of security agencies’ warning that public sector banks were vulnerable to cyber attacks, the finance ministry has asked the public sector banks to strengthen their information technology systems, a news report said. The security agencies are on a strict vigil against cyber attacks on the country’s banking system and are working closely with the Reserve Bank of India to tackle any such incidents. Intelligence Bureau has taken up the matter with banks and asked them to not only employ software professionals to upgrade their systems but also plan long-term solutions to tackle these threats. To respond quickly to a cyber attack, according to the IB, there is also an urgent need to add a robust crisis management plan for these banks.
