India presents a wealth of opportunities due to the significantly low penetration rates in both the life insurance (2.8%) and non-life insurance (0.9%) sectors. Despite being the 10th largest life insurance market and the 15th largest non-life insurance market globally, the sector’s growth has been gradual.

Nevertheless, there is ongoing consolidation in both the life and general insurance domains. According to data from IBEF, the Indian insurance industry currently stands at a substantial USD 280 billion. The life insurance segment is projected to experience a growth rate of 12-15% over the next three to five years. However, the array of insurance products available to customers is yet to match global standards.
