Indian origin banker Viswas Raghavan, who has been heading JP Morgan’s investment banking business in Europe, has been promoted as deputy CEO, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The bank circulated an internal memo to its employees announcing the appointment. It said in addition to his current role as head of banking for the EMEA region, Raghavan will become the deputy CEO for EMEA. He will succeed Emilio Saracho, who will now become a vice-chairman of JP Morgan Chase & Co. Mumbai-educated Raghavan, 48, will report to Daniel Pinto, chief executive of corporate & investment bank (CIB) for his deputy CEO responsibilities and join the EMEA and CIB management committees. He joined JP Morgan from Lehman Brothers in 2000. He is a BSc in Physics from Mumbai University and a postgraduate in electronic engineering and computer science from the Aston University UK.
