The central government is learnt to have decided to appoint V.K. Sharma as the chairman of LIC of India. He is MD of LIC and is holding additional charge of chairman following the voluntary retirement of S.K. Roy as chairman. The appointments committee of the cabinet is expected to make an announcement in this regard shortly. Roy sought voluntary retirement on health ground, about two years ahead of completion of his five-year term. Sharma has been MD of LIC since November 2013. He had earlier held the position of chief executive of LIC Housing Finance and zonal manager in charge of LIC’s south zone.
