Syndicate Bank is planning to open 300-500 branches in the next financial year. T.K. Srivastava, ED of the bank, said the bank had around 3,500 branches currently. Of these, 50-60 were opened during the fourth quarter of the current financial year. And some 300 to 500 branches are planned to be opened in the next fiscal, he added. The bank has 37 mid-corporate branches and this number will go up to 50 in the next two to three months, he said. Srivastava also said the bank wanted to recruit around 5,000 people last year but it could get only 4,000 people. It now plans to add 5,000 people in various cadres and thisrecruitment would take care of the branch expansion, in addition to replacing those retiring from service, he said.
