SIDBI to organize district conclaves on investment promotion in Maharashtra

SIDBI and the Directorate of Industries, Government of Maharashtra, have joined hands to organize district conclaves on “Investment Promotion, Export, Ease of Doing Business, and One District One Product (ODOP)” in all 36 districts of Maharashtra. There will be 2-day mega-conclaves in 18 districts and one-day conclaves in the rest. Sivasubramanian Ramann, Chairman and Managing Director, SIDBI, said that these conclaves will harness the strengths of each district, spur new investments and boost exports. MSMEs will be major beneficiaries of these conclaves by an increase in investment and growth in business.

SIDBI is collaborating with the state government for the growth of MSMEs in the state and increasing the flow of credit to MSMEs. The special focus is on infrastructure development, venture capital for startups and green finance for the sustainability of MSMEs.
Earlier, addressing the ‘Maharashtra MSME Conference’ organized by ASSOCHAM, Sivasubramanian said, “Today there are more than 9 crore MSMEs in the country. Out of these, 1.5 crore MSMEs are under GST. The remaining MSMEs also need finance from banks and NBFCs but are not on the radar of banks because they don’t have Udyam numbers. In order to bridge this gap, SIDBI is working with micro-finance institutions and small NBFCs to Provide loans to small business entities. Five crore MSMEs will benefit from a digital program, being set up to provide Udyam numbers to them in the next two years.”
Minister for MSME, GoI, Narayan Rane said that MSMEs need to be supported with better infrastructure and access to technology and finance. There is also an increasing effort to double the number of micro industries in the next six years from the current 6 crores.
