Arundhati Bhattacharya, chairman, State Bank of India, inaugurated the bank’s official pages on two new social media platforms, Pinterest and Instagram, to connect and reach out to its customers. Pinterest is a visual bookmarking tool wherein users can upload, save, sort and manage images known as pins through collections known as pinboards. Pinterest has 72.8 million users worldwide. India (13%) has the third largest user base of the site after USA (32%) and China (14%). Instagram is an online mobile photo/video-sharing social networking service. It enables its users to share photos and videos with their followers. It has over 150 million active users and 40 million photos are uploaded per day. The bank will use these platforms to promote and popularize its various products and services and appeal to the aspirations of the young and digital India. The function was also attended by the senior management of SBI.
