Royal Bank of Scotland is launching a new mobile bank and moving 1 million of its NatWest customers there. NatWest Bank, a wholly-owned subsidiary of RBS, has about 7.5 million retail customers. The bank is developing a beta of the mobile bank, which will be tested in Q3. With this the bank wants to take on competition, especially from app-based startups. News reports suggested the bank’s formed COO Mark Bailie is leading the project.
