The Reserve Bank of India has told HDFC Bank to hold the appointment of 2 directors on its board until the bank finalizes the successor to Aditya Puri as MD and CEO of the bank. The bank had proposed election of Sashidhar Jagdishan and Bhavesh Zaveri as additional director and executive director respectively on the board of the bank. The bank had approached RBI for approval of the 2 appointments but the RBI has no sent a communication to the bank stating these are important positions in the bank and it should examine and submit the proposal after a new MD and CEO takes charge later this year. Both Jagdishan and Zaveri are said to be candidates for the position of MD and CEO of the bank.
