The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced RBIDATA, a mobile application designed to provide seamless access to macroeconomic and financial statistics in an interactive and user-friendly format. This initiative aligns with RBI’s ongoing efforts to enhance data transparency and accessibility for researchers, policymakers, financial professionals, and the general public.
The app offers a comprehensive repository of over 11,000 economic data series, covering various aspects of the Indian economy. Users can explore time-series data through interactive graphs and charts, with the option to download datasets for in-depth analysis. Each dataset includes detailed source information, units of measurement, frequency of updates, and explanatory notes, ensuring clarity and usability.
RBIDATA also features a Popular Reports section, highlighting frequently accessed economic reports for quick reference. Its enhanced search functionality enables users to locate specific data directly from the home screen, eliminating the need for extensive navigation. The app further integrates a Banking Outlet locator, allowing users to find banking facilities within a 20 km radius. Additionally, the SAARC Finance link provides access to key macroeconomic data from SAARC member countries, facilitating regional economic comparisons.
To ensure seamless connectivity with RBI’s existing digital resources, RBIDATA offers direct access to the Database on the Indian Economy (DBIE) portal at data.rbi.org.in. Available on both iOS and Android devices (version 12 and above), the app enables users to provide feedback for continuous improvements.
RBIDATA represents a significant advancement in data dissemination for the BFSI sector, equipping professionals, analysts, and decision-makers with real-time economic intelligence. By offering structured, high-quality financial data in a digital-first format, the app is set to play a crucial role in supporting data-driven policymaking, investment strategies, and economic research, strengthening the broader financial ecosystem in India.
