RBI has a new ED

The Reserve Bank of India has a new executive director. Dr Rabi N. Mishra, who has been a principal chief general manager at the bank, has been elevated as executive director. He will be in charge of the newly created specialized supervisor and regulatory cadre in RBI and will also handle portfolios including non-banking and cooperative bank supervision and the College of Supervisors. He has been with RBI for 30 years and associated with many research projects of the bank. The position of an executive director has fallen vacant after the retirement of Rosemary Sebastian. As principal chief general manager he was looking after risk management department. RBI has 12 EDs, including the chief financial officers. Five chief general managers have been selected to be promoted for the position of ED, as these fall vacant in the year. Mishra’s appointment was the first of those five.
