HDFC Bank has appointed Ramesh Lakshminarayanan as Group Head – Information Technology. He will have the designation of CIO and has got assigned to take the bank’s technological transformation journey to the next level. His role will cover all verticals of the bank and will be responsible for technology strategy, strengthening foundational technology, enhancing the digital capabilities and harnessing new-age AI/ML technology solutions for the bank. Ramesh Lakshminarayanan has been with CRISIL before his shift to HDFC Bank and served as its Chief Technology and Information officer handling the transformation of CRISIL’s businesses by leveraging technology, data and analytics. He joined CRISIL after c-founding Pragmatix, a big data and analytics startup, which was acquired by CRISIL. He has over 25 years of industry experience, having worked in senior leadership positions in Citibank, ABN Amro Bank and Kotak Mahindra Group. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Mumbai University and an MBA from the University of Pune. Bhavesh Zaveri, Country Head – Operations and Technology, HDFC Bank, said Ramesh’s impeccable credentials, will benefit HDFC Bank immensely in its quest to harness technology to enhance customer experience, acquire efficiencies and move towards the next level of growth. Ramesh said he hoped to utilize his learnings, experience, and understanding of technology, new digital platforms, data and analytics to ensure that the bank maintains its pole position in leveraging technology.
