R Gandhi is dy governor of RBI

rbi3R. Gandhi is the new deputy governor at the Reserve Bank of India. He will succeed Anand Sinha, whose term ended in January. Gandhi is at present an executive director at the central bank. He is being appointed for a period of three years. His name was approved by the appointments committee of the cabinet. As deputy governor, he will be in charge of department of banking operations and development, department of non-banking supervision, urban banks department, department of expenditure and budgetary control, department of information technology and legal department. A master’s degree holder in economics from the Annamalai University, in Tamil Nadu, Gandhi has been executive director since March 2011 and was in charge of banking operations and development, administration and personnel management, human resources development and information technology. RBI has four deputy governors and the other three are H.R. Khan, Urjit Patel and K.C. Chakrabarty. Chakrabarty has recently sought to be relieved from his position on 25 April ahead of his usual time of retirement in June.
