Public sector banks have come together to launch doorstep banking services. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the services at a function to declare the EASE 2.0 Index results. Doorstep Banking Services are envisaged as part of the EASE Reforms to provide banking services to customers at their doorsteps through the universal touchpoints of call center, web portal or mobile app. Customers can also track their service requests through these channels. The services will be rendered by the Doorstep Banking Agents deployed by the selected service providers at 100 centers across the country. At present only non-financial services like pick up of negotiable instruments new cheque book requisition slips, 15G / 15H forms, IT / GST challan, request for account statement, delivery of non-personalized cheque book, demand draft, pay the order, etc are available to customers at their doorsteps. Under the new plan, several financial services will be made available from October 2020 at nominal charges.
