There will now be Rs 200 notes. News reports suggested the board of the Reserve Bank of India has approved a proposal to introduce currency of this denomination sometime after June when printing of these notes would be taken up. Besides, the government has to officially approve this proposal. The government is keen to rework the currency denominations after it had withdrawn Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes in November 2016. The Rs 1000 notes were replaced by Rs 2000 notes and fresh Rs 500 notes were issued.
