Naina Lal Kidwai to retire from HSBC India

1oct2015Naina Lal Kidwai who headed HSBC India will retire by the end of this year. Kidwai has been working as chairman of HSBC India and ED on the board of HSBC Asia-Pacific. She had been with the bank for 13 years after a stint at Mogran Stanley. The 58-year-old banker was quoted in a statement by the bank that having reached retirement age, it is time for her to move to different pursuits. She said she intends to devote time for causes like women empowerment, water and sanitation. She joined the bank as vice chairman and MD at HSBC Securities and Capital Markets in 2002 and was appointed as group general manager in 2006. She took over as chief executive of HSBC India in 2007 and as chairman in 2009.
