Kotak Mahindra Bank has initiated a probationary officers’ course for women. The bank has started the first batch in February with 65 women in Bangalore. Shanti Ekambaram, president – Corporate and Investment Banking of the bank, said banks wanted to enhance the number working women in the sector and usually when people join the banks, it takes time for them to understand the work culture and often they get disconnected, which leads to attrition. The bank’s plan is to counter this. According to reports in past few years the number of working women has increased from 9% -10% to 18%-20%. The course will be provided to graduate students in the age group 21- 25 years. During the course students will also be provided with the facility of medical cover worth Rs 1 lakh.
