Global investment firm KKR has appointed KV Kamath as a Senior Advisor to KKR India.
KKR provides alternative asset management, capital markets, and insurance solutions.
Kamath is widely regarded as a pioneer of India’s modern financial services sector. He brings to KKR over five decades of experience building and leading large Indian businesses.
From its inception in 2015 until 2020, Kamath served as the first president of the New Development Bank, a multilateral development bank established by the BRICS nations.
Before that, he served as the chairman of ICICI Bank and Infosys, two of India’s largest corporations. He was appointed chairperson of India’s newly established National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development in October 2021.
In 1988, Kamath joined the Asian Development Bank in Manila. In 1996, he returned to India as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ICICI, which later merged with ICICI Bank. He was a co-chair of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad and also has a degree in engineering.
