IDBI Bank plans to set up 600 branches in this financial year, taking its overall branch network to 2,000. Deputy managing director of the bank B.K. Batra said the bank has to do more to spread its branch network across the country. In 2013-14, the bank had added nearly 400 branches, adding up the total number of branches to 1400. The bank, which is completing 10 years of existence as a commercial bank this year, will look to add another 700 ATMs too during the year. It has a total of 2,300 ATMs as of now. The bank came into being in 2004 after IDBI, which functioned for nearly 40 yers as a development finance institution with just 17 offices was converted into a bank.
