IDBI Bank has 2 new independent directors – Samaresh Parida and N. Jambunathan. The bank’s board has approved their appointments as additional directors following the resignation of 2 members earlier. Parida is a consultant and Jambunathan a former deputy managing director of SBI. The bank had seen the exit of 2 independent directors, Ninad Karpe and S, Ravi, after CBI filed a FIR in connection with Rs 600 crore loan given by the bank to former Aircel promoter C Sivasankaran and his associates. The CBI’s FIR had named the 2 directors and many other officials. The bank had given loans of Rs 322 crore and Rs 523 crore to companies of Sivasankaran, who was at the center of Aircel Maxis probe which involved former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran. However, Maran and his brother have been discharged by a special court.
