HDFC Bank said its Unified Payments Interface will also be available on Chillr, a multi-bank mobile payments app. At present, UPI is available on HDFC Bank’s own mobile banking app. The bank said in a statement Chillr has been running on IMPS with 11 banks prior to this launch and has achieved a milestone of monthly transaction value of over Rs 500 crore. With HDFC Bank UPI on Chillr app, the startup’s base will expand three times as customers of over 33 more banks will be able to use it, in addition to the existing 11 banks. During the private beta testing of HDFC Bank’s UPI on Chillr, over two lakh customers were using the platform. Nitin Chugh, country head – Digital Banking, HDFC Bank, launched UPI on Chillr with Sony Joy, co-founder and CEO, Chillr. Chugh said this is yet another avenue for the bank’s customers in conducting transactions using UPI, which is already available on the bank’s mobile banking app. Sony Joy said Chillr along with the bank aim to disrupt not only the payments industry but also revolutionize other banking and financial services like credit, savings, insurance, investments and more.
