HDFC Bank to increase staff in NE

HDFC Bank plans to increase its headcount by 50% to touch 6000 employees in the north-east region in the next 2-3 years. The bank has an ambitious expansion plan for the region. The bank will hire around 1500 people in the next 1 year in Assam where it intends to have 100 branches in the next one year from the current 72. The bank’s executive vice president Sandeep Kumar said the north-east is very important for the bank’s business and it now has 136 branches spread across the region. The plan is to take this number to 200 in the next 2-3 years, he added. The bank has 4000 staffers in the north-east now and this will go to around 6000 people, in the next 2-3 years, Kumar said. he also said 56% of the bank’s branches in Assam are in semi-urban and rural areas.
