img_0020(1)HDFC Bank has created a new Guinness World Record – the annual blood donation drive organized by the bank in December 2013 has been recognized as the largest effort of its kind across the globe. A citation from Guinness World Record says: “The largest blood donation (multiple venues) involved 61,902 participants and was achieved by HDFC Bank (India), with 1,115 blood donation camps held across 709 locations in India on December 6, 2013.” Through this campaign which is now in its seventh year, HDFC Bank is providing a critical resource for sustaining lives which is blood. Bhavesh Zaveri, country head – operations, of the bank, who has been spearheading this initiative for seven years, said there is no artificial substitute for blood, and every drop collected could help save a life. Since the bank started this initiative in 2007, it has increased the number of locations with every passing year in order to involve as many people in this noble cause, he added. The bank will continue to raise awareness on this important issue and encourage more volunteers to come forward in the future, he said.
