RBI regional director Prabhakar Jha and co–op veteran Satish Marathe will also be star guest speakers
The Banking Frontiers group is pleased to announce that Subhash Shirodkar, Minister, Cooperation, Institute of Public Assistance and Water Resources, Government of Goa, will grace the 17th “National Cooperative Banking Summit & Awards” as the Chief Guest. The event will take place on October 11-12, 2023, at the Rio resort in Goa.
Prabhakar Jha, Regional Director, CGM, Goa, Reserve Bank of India, will be the Guest of Honour at the event. Satish Marathe, Director, Central Board of RBI and Founder Member, Sahakar Bharati, will be another star speaker at the 2-day conference.
The FCBA 2023 Awards, presented by Banking Frontiers, in collaboration with NAFCUB and various cooperative banking federations, celebrates the resurgence of the cooperative banking sector in India.
While Subhash Shirodkar will speak in the evening session on October 12, followed by the Award distribution, Prabhakar Jha, Regional Director, RBI, will deliver his speech in the morning session on on the same day.
Subhash Shirodkar has been a cabinet minister since March 28, 2022, in the present Goa government. Shirodkar, being one of the senior-most MLAs of Goa Legislative Assembly, was a cabinet minister earlier also in 1990 and 1999. He has been a member of a number of committees. Shirodkar is closely connected with a number of educational and social organisations. Prabhakar Jha joined RBI in 1998. He holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Stephens College of Delhi University and is also having MBA and Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). During the past 25 years, he has worked in various capacities at various regional offices and RBI’s central office at Mumbai. His main areas of work in the RBI included supervision of banks, foreign exchange related areas, payment and settlement and currency management.
Satish Marathe, a cooperative veteran, is also a Director of National Housing Bank, and a member of a number of the Government of India appointed Committees. Marathe started his banking career in the Bank of India and rose to be the Chairman and CEO of The United Western Bank (from 2002 to 2006). Earlier, in September 1991, he became the CEO of Janakalyan Sahakari Bank, which recorded high consistent growth during his 10-year tenure.
