Exim Bank, NID offers skill training for rural womenExport-Import Bank of India and the National Institute of Design had together launched a design intervention workshop in block printing and dyeing for the rural women of Achrol village near Jaipur. Over 20 women participants having basic skillsets will be trained by young and enterprising designers from NID at the 15-day workshop. The objective of the workshop is to provide advanced training on design intervention, which will broaden the participants’ perspective and improve skills in block printing and dyeing. It is envisaged that these participants will be equipped to train fellow craftspersons in their community. This activity will also set in motion the process of spreading skills and knowledge having multiplier impact over a period of time. By undergoping training at the workshop, the rural women can also improve their livelihood and economic status. The products with block printing designs are expected to get a modern touch during the training program. The women participants having combined skills in dyeing, block printing, kantha embroidery and tailoring, are estimated to produce approx 20-25 products prototypes ranging from readymade garments & textiles and home, kitchen & bed furnishing items. Exim Bank of India through its Marketing Advisory Services plays a promotional role to create and enhance export capabilities and international competitiveness of Indian companies.
