Emirates Islamic Bank has launched a facility that allows its customers to make transactions by tweeting the bank. Through its social banking option, the bank allows customers to make enquiries on their account balances, transaction history, and credit card accounts by sending a tweet. The bank will only respond to customer queries via a direct message, an effort to maintain privacy and confidentiality. The Twitter banking service will be available to all of its saving and current account holders as well as credit card holders, through registration. Emirates Islamic Deputy CEO Faisal Aqil said the introduction of banking via Twitter is a first for the Islamic banking industry and reinforces the bank’s continued commitment to set new standards of innovation in Islamic finance.
