A delegation of senior commercial bankers from Egypt has made a study tour on MSME units in India. The visit, organized by the Egyptian Banking Institute, was coordinated in India by the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance and was hosted by State Bank of India. The delegation was welcomed by SBI DMD and CFO Anshula Kant. Anshula Kant explained the delegates the unique history, legacy and evolution of SBI and thrust given by the bank for lending to the MSME sector. A team from SME banking unit, led by CGM of the bank G.K.Kansal talked on financing to MSME units and SBI’s recent initiatives including digital banking and on-line lending to the sellers on e-commerce platforms and taxi aggregators. SBI’s performance under government schemes such as Prime Minister’s Mudra Yojana and the recently launched Stand Up India was also highlighted to the delegation. The event was followed by a Q&A session. The Egyptian delegation, headed by Samar Mostafa Mohamed Abdel Hadi, was impressed with the diverse product range of SBI in its offerings to the SME sector, role played in development of the sector and the strides made by the bank, SBI said.
